Jazz Classes
Beginner Jazz
Ages 7 to 11. This is a beginner program that teaches the fundamentals of Jazz technique and style. This class is ideal for mastering coordination, balance, and grace. Students learn a Jazz routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class length is 45 minutes 1 time per week.
Kinder Jazz
This energetic class is for dancers ages 4½ to 7. It prepares students to move on to Beginning Jazz, focusing on an introduction to Jazz and the coordination required for Jazz movements. This class will also focus on listening to different beats and rhythms in music. The goals of Kinder Jazz are to foster creativity, freedom and expression in movement, and a love for dance. Students learn a Jazz routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Classes are 30 minutes, 1 time per week.
Intermediate Jazz
Ages 11 to 14 (Middle School). At these ages a student can take a dedicated Jazz class that is more focused on the intricacies of Jazz dance. The Jazz classes may use contemporary music similar to Hip Hop, but the movement and routines are all Jazz based. Students will learn a Jazz routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class length is 1 hour, 1 time per week.
Teen Jazz
Ages 14 to 18. A Jazz class for older students and young teens with previous Jazz experience. At these ages a student can take a dedicated Jazz class that is more focused on the intricacies of Jazz dance. The Jazz classes may use contemporary music similar to Hip Hop, but the movement and routines are all Jazz based. Students learn a Jazz routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class length is 1 hour, 1 time per week.

What is the difference
between Jazz & Hip Hop?”
Great question! The Jazz style of dance is what is seen in many Broadway type shows such as "Cats". It is a more structured, Ballet-based style of dance. Hip Hop is a fast, higher energy type dance seen in music videos and commercials.
Hip-Hop Classes
Kinder Hip-Hop
This energetic class is for dancers ages 4 ½ to 7. It prepares students to move on to Beginning Hip Hop, focusing on an introduction to Hip Hop and the coordination required for Hip Hop movements. Beginning Hip-Hop
Ages 7 to 11. This class allows students to learn simple Hip Hop moves and routines and dance to contemporary music. Class includes a warm-up at the beginning to also improve dancers’ flexibility, balance and muscle strength. This is the perfect introduction to Hip Hop movements and style. Students learn a Hip Hop routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class is 40 minutes, 1 time per week.
Intermediate Hip-Hop
Ages 11 to 14 (Middle School). This is the next step up in Hip Hop Classes. The Routines get a little faster and the steps a little more intricate. This class also features a complete warm-up at the start of every class to improve flexibility, balance, and muscle strength week after week. Students learn a Hip Hop routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class length is 1 hour, 1 time per week.
Teen Hip-Hop
Ages 14 to 18. This is a fast paced, high energy class full of stretching, calisthenics, and Hip Hop routines. Teen Hip Hop is designed to build muscle strength and flexibility, as well as a full immersion into the Hip Hop Style of dancing. Students learn a Hip Hop routine to perform in the Holiday Showcase and the Spring Recital. Class length is 1 hour, 1 time per week.
Hip Hop Warning:
Hip Hop Music in large contains adult themes. The Dance Asylum uses Radio and TV as its guide for what to play in classes. If it’s on TV or played on the Radio we may use it in classes.
